Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program PA

 

The Pennsylvania Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low income people pay their heating bills through energy assistance grants.

To receive help as a renter or owner, you don’t have to be on public assistance, have an unpaid heating bill. Additional money is available for emergency situations where you may be in jeopardy of losing your heat.

Emergency situations include:

  • Broken heating equipment or leaking lines that must be fixed or replaced
  • Lack of fuel
  • Termination of utility service
  • Danger of being without fuel (less than a 15 day supply) or having utility service terminated (received a notice that service will be shut off within the next 60 days)

To apply:

  • Names of household members
  • Dates of birth for household members
  • Social Security numbers for household members
  • Proof of income for household members
  • A recent heating bill
