Federal Action Update: Fight to End Alzheimer’s

Caregiving Resource CenterFrom the Alzheimer’s Association

We’ve worked all year for this moment. This week, Congress has the opportunity to take a major step forward in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, but they need to hear from you. Congress is voting on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 Omnibus Appropriations Bill which includes our year’s top advocacy priority, the Alzheimer’s Accountability Act.

The Alzheimer’s Association and its strategic partner, the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM), are the only Alzheimer’s organizations that have worked to advance this critical legislation, which directs scientists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to tell Congress how much funding they need to receive if we are to reach our national goal to prevent and effectively treat Alzheimer’s by 2025. The bill also includes a further $25 million increase for vital Alzheimer’s research at the NIH.

Contact your members of Congress today and ask them to support these crucial Alzheimer’s provisions in the FY2015 Omnibus Appropriations Bill.

Tell them Alzheimer’s can’t wait.

We’ll continue to keep you informed of the next steps as this bill moves through Congress and, with your efforts, toward enactment by the president within the next few days.

Tell Congress to act now on Alzheimer’s.
