Corbett Seeks to Expand Medicaid, Innovation Plan Released

Last Friday, Gov. Corbett’s senior staff released two important plans that provide a roadmap on how the Commonwealth will deliver and pay for healthcare in the future.

Gov. Corbett on Friday announced that he will seek the federal government’s approval to expand Medicaid in Pennsylvania under the Affordable Care Act. His plan would enable more than 500,000 uninsured residents, many of whom are considered working poor because they are employed in low-wage jobs, to get government-subsidized health insurance from the private marketplace.

The notice was published on Saturday in the Pennsylvania Bulletin. Comments will be accepted through Jan. 13, 2014, and should be submitted via mail to the Department of Public Welfare, Attention: Healthy Pennsylvania Waiver, P.O.
